New to using VR in the workplace - need tips!
Submitted by csunley on Sat, 10/01/2005 - 20:50.Hi all,
I've been using Dragon for about 5 months working from home, and it's helped a lot with my RSI (tendonitis and rotator cuff issues). I'd been feeling like I couldn't take a "real" onsite job anymore because of needing to use VR, but I found a job I couldn't pass up - it starts in 3 weeks. It's a writing job and will involve heavy computer work. MY RSI is pretty stable and much improved after surgery on my shoulder 1 year ago, but it gets bad unless I use VR.
There will be no costs involved for my new employer. I have already purchased the software myself, but would like to bring my Dragon training/installation guy to install it in my new workplace (I've never had good luck installing it myself - voice recognition accuracy seems to suffer). I'm quite willing to pay for him myself.
My vocational counselor wants me to be trained on this due to hand injury on my last job
Submitted by trenasknife on Sat, 09/24/2005 - 02:07.My workers comp voc counselor wants me trained on this due to my extensive clerical abilities prior to hand surgery last year that basically made my left thumb useless and partial loss of left index finger.
My questions to him was... "What employer would hire me and then let me install software on the company computer?" Also "What employer knowing what my job restrictions are would hire me as a clerical worker anyway?"
Job restrictions are no lifting over 17lbs, no word processing for more than 15 minutes in any hour, no grasping, pulling, or twisting with left hand.
Can this type software be used to enter data into a mainframe computer? Doesn't it interupt others in the office? If confidentiality was involved in the office setting, wouldn't this be a hinderence?
Voice Endurance
Submitted by PepeGSay on Thu, 07/28/2005 - 19:16.I am going to start a job which will require a lot of dictation. Can someone give me some tips or links to building my endurance and maintaining voice quality throughout the day. I use voice recognition due to RSI, I don't want to end up mute as well.
Using voice recognition for multiple voices
Submitted by John Borrowman on Thu, 07/21/2005 - 03:08.As an executive recruiter, I often record my telephone conversations using a digital recorder that allows me to later transfer the files (.wav) to my computer. I am running out of time to transcribe these calls and am looking for a solution.
Is there a voice recognition software that can reliably translate both my voice and another? My voice is consistent, of course, but the other voice will be different each time.
