usb pod a necessity? wearing headset vs. over the ear?

Hello,

Comparing Microphones and quote accuracy

Message Inquiry:
A woman contacted eMicrophones because she is looking to help her 23 year old son with Cerebral Palsy attain higher accuracy with speech recognition. She wrote:

Would anyone be able to give me specifications for the Emkay VR3361 mike?

Best microphone for a contractor to use on-site?

I'm currently using DNS 9 with an Andrea NC-61 headset plugged into my home computer's on-board soundcard. Accuracy is adequate, although it could be better.

Position of mike when using Andrea ANC-750?!

My lively old Parrott headset developed a short somewhere in the wiring of the headset itself, and so reluctantly I retired it.

Andrea ANC microphones and Dragon with Parallels on the Mac

The Andrea ANC 700 and 750 active noise canceling microphones are true classics in the speech recognition world.

Inexpensive USB adapters

One of my Andrea USB pods gave up the ghost a few weeks ago, and the other has a cable that isn't in great shape. (I've used both for many years.)

Can a good USB microphone on a laptop equal a good sound card and line in microphone on a desktop?

As I said in my last post I'm thinking of going back to a corporate environment and it would be likely that I would get assigned a laptop.

Why did my computer lose my USB pod?

Strangely, my Dell laptop has suddenly lost the ability to recognize my Andrea sound pod. If I try to use the USB audio input with NaturallySpeaking version 9, it tells me that I don't have the required device attached. If I remove the pod, and then reinsert it, the computer tells me that it can't find the right drivers. (As far as I know, no special drivers should be required.)

Need advice on replacing Andrea ANC-750 microphone jack - having trouble wokring out the wiring

Hi,

I have an Andrea ANC-750 that I'm needing to repair. I do not have any experience with electronics so took the headset to an electronics store and agreed to let them chop of the original mike jack. They suggest I solder the wires to a new 3.5mm jack or take it to an electronics repair person to have them do it. Only problem is there are five wires in the lead and only 3 connection points on the 3.5mm stereo jack.
