Need Advice on Mic Setup/Purchase
I'm currently using a Sennheiser ME3 with an Andrea USB hub and DNS 8. All is working just fine with this setup, but now my needs are morphing:
New Scenario
I'm putting together some instructional videos and the Senn ME3 is too conspicuous on the instructor's face. I need a mic that's as 'invisible' as possible, and at the same time, I need to be able to get voice recognition quality sound to be able to transcribe the recorded content into print format for a workbook.
Questions
-- Has the Sennheiser class mic evolved into a 'petite' form factor yet? If so, could you suggest a model?
-- If not, is there a handheld that I can hide/tape to a nearby prop that will enable me to get Dragon-transcribeable quality?
Thanks for your feedback ... your help a few years back has been a great boon to my productivity. I hope you can sell me another mic to get me to the next level.
Thanks!

The Sennheiser Wireless Lapel Microphone is the closest petite form factor you'll find. Is the type of Microphone worn by Broadway performers names on talk shows. For speech recognition purposes it works well in quiet environment with accuracy descending with the more background noise. See this at:

The best handheld/desktop mounted microphone is the Sennheiser MD431II. The speaker's mouth must be at a fairly consistent distance meaning they cannot move around and be more than 1-3 inches away. See this at:

Thanks, Martin.
Can you give me the Sennheiser product number for the Wireless Lapel mic? I'm want to read the specs on the Sennheiser site, but I can't tell which model this is.
Thanks again.

What specs do you wish to know?
The model # is printed on the package when we send it. I could tell you the model # but that might be a disservice as that does not include everything you need to set this up for speech recognition dictation. After all, we have spent the time purchasing and testing what works best. There are several versions of the lapel wireless, but we have found the sweet point in terms of price/performance and that is what we offer. Customers purchase from us because they trust us.
eMicrophones, Inc. products have no value within themselves. Their only value is in how our 13 years experience evaluates them and stands behind them.

I agree. And whenever I decide to invest in a new tool I try to understand as much about it as I can before I purchase. So after researching around and trying to figure out how wireless mics work, I reclarifed that what I specifically need is a high quality lapel mic that gives good voice recognition
with Dragon. Considering this I think that I can meet my technical needs by using the Sennheiser lapel mic with my Sony ICD-MS515 recorder.
And I do recognize the added-value you offer by your testing and experience -- and willingness to answer these emails ... that's why I purchased my Sennheiser headset and Andrea pod from you in the past ... and am willing to do so again.
So based on my reclarified needs, would you send me a link to the standalone version of the Sennheiser lapel mic that comes with the wireless set you pointed to in you previous response?
Thanks.

No, because it would require either the K6 power unit (cost is about the same as the Sennheiser Wireless lapel unit) or some kind of pre-amplifier with which we have not tested.

ok. Still trying to figure out which product I need to get my project done. Is the sennheiser wireless lapel setup you're selling "camera mountable"?
I see on another site that has the Sennheiser Evolution G2 100 Series that it's a Camera Mountable UHF Lavalier Wireless System with EW100G2 Receiver SK100G2 BodyPack Transmitter and ME2 Microphone (A 518-554MHz).
The picture of the receiver you're showing is much larger than the picture for the g2 100.

No. eMicrophones specializes in microphones for computers not video cameras.

the wireless system we sell is designed for professionals who require the best security and longest range as well as accuracy. A smaller transmitter like you are referring to does not do that. It may well be just fine for your situation as long as you do not have to transcribe the recorded speech directly into text by using Dragon naturally speaking.
