Replacing DTMF signals with spoken word in radio communication. Linux based.
Submitted by Doug GM7SVK on Tue, 03/14/2006 - 21:41.
New here and hoping to find some input / help to enable hands free operation of a radio system which currently relies on the manual input of DTMF tones (dual tone multi frequency) to command system changes. Simple voice commands are the target with the decoded input driving bash scripts to carry out instructions.
CMU Sphinx looks good but seems complex to set up (maybe not if someone knows what they are doing?)
Any thoughts or assistance appreciated.
Thank you,
Doug, Glasgow, Scotland.

Sorry, not too much
Sorry, not too much experience with CMU Sphinx here. There are some SR research news groups that might help, but I don't have a ready reference. Maybe someone else can point you in the right direction.
If you don't get further direction, try:

Hands-off mobile phones are
Hands-off mobile phones are very common nowadays. You can dial a number (= generate a DTMF string) by saying things like "Call office." There must be modular processors available that could be adapted for radio operation.
