Undervolting a Laptop
Submitted by BruceCyr on Tue, 01/24/2006 - 17:13.
Guy shows how to undervolt your laptop while maintaining its speed and stability!
Why would you want to do that?
1. To lower operating temperature (18% in his case).
2. Increase battery life (not measured).
3. Increase laptop lifetime (esp. harddrive -- not measured).
Bruce
Hint: You could do the same to your desktop machine.

Who is Guy? Where is this

Bruce, it's that short-term
Bruce, it's that short-term memory problem again -)

That's it!
That's it! Thanks.

PS: I should point out that doing this on any machine usually requires finding software that enables you to lower the voltage, although its possible a few BIOS will allow you to undervolt directly. Mine won't go below what it "knows" is nominal for the CPU, although it will go enough over to generate blue smoke and a firebolt in the hold.
