headset wiring

Hi,

Mr. Markoe mentioned I may be able to find some help with the following. Thanks in advance.

I purchased a couple headsets at a going out of business auction. The company was in the theatrical production business.

These are intercom headsets used for comm not for stage voice or instruments. I think the pattern is fairly tight and the mic elements work well with low spl. I want to use then with the standard mic jack on a computer for DNS.

These are the headsets.

1. Technical Projects, Inc. - SMH210 Series Single-Muff Communications Headset. This has a red/yellow/blue/grey wiring into the headset (I cut the xlr end).

2. Looks like a telex style lightweight headset. This has a red/blue/blue/white wiring into the headset.

I have the connectors and can do the solder myself. I'm stumped about the wiring. How do I go from 4 wire to a 1/8' jack and keep the voice and speaker impedance etc correct? Which wires need not be connected. I want to try both headsets to see which is best for me. ETC...Thanks for another swing at this. Possibly you can direct me to one of the members of other groups with this info. NR
