DNS 8 update
Submitted by emiliaserv on Sun, 10/23/2005 - 13:50.
Presumably I am not alone in receiving regular messages asking me whether I want to install the DNS 8 update. I seem to remember that at least one person complained about having problems after installing it.
This was some time ago and in the meantime I wonder whether anyone has gone ahead and installed it, if so what difference (if any) has it made?
Thanks
Graham

The general consensus is
The general consensus is that the SP-1 update doesn't seem to do any harm - nor does it seem to do much for users other than those using Dragon with a PDA.
Basically take it or leave it and if you are irritated by the regular messages turn them off - there will be plenty of warning on this and other forums when/if an SP-2 appears.
For the record both DNS Preferred and Professional are now shipping as version 8.1 (i.e. containing the updates)

You can turn off the
You can turn off the automatic auto update.
Open DNS and close any users. Then goto tools/administrative settings and de-select "check for product updates at startup"
I have had nothing but
I have had nothing but problems since I have installed the update. My system and Dragon was running mint until I installed the update. Now my voice recognition is the pits and have to do constant corrections and half the time Dragon hangs and now it is typing out my corrections instead of performing them ie. scratch that, undo that
Taking my computer in just to have the update uninstalled.
I think that before I spent
I think that before I spent any money having it uninstalled, I would create a new user and see how that works.
I'm using DNS 8 Pro w/SP1 with no problem here.
