Uninstalling Viavoice 98 from a Windows XP system

The system in question has a problem with the Viavoice 98 control panel extension. The microsoft advice for this is to rename the .cpl extension to .bak. I have done this but it is preventing me from un-installing the package. I have read elsewhere that there is is a file called viaclean_us.exe which will remove the package cleanly. Does anyone know the whereabouts of this file?

Many Thanks

Assuming that you have the installation disc, you should find it on that this in Support\ ViaClean. Simply run ViaClean and follow the on-screen instructions.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately the people whose machine i'm trying to fix cannot find the disc.

Make a backup of your user files and dictation and navigation macros.

Manually delete your ViaVoice folder.

Restart.

Run regedit. Make three searches: ViaVoice, VV, IBM. Delete the registry entries, but be very careful to only delete those that refer to ViaVoice.

Restart.

You will then have to obtain an installation disc, and as to whether you can get VV 98 is questionable.

Why not complete update, and get the latest 10.5.
