Dragon Dictate on modern OS?
Submitted by wati on Sun, 09/11/2005 - 14:27.
I have been using dragon dictate extensively for over 12 years. I am still running windows 95 and windows 98 on my home and work desktops and on my laptop.
I need to upgrade to a new computer. Does anyone successfully run dragon dictate 3.02 on any OS currently available on a new computer?
Thanks.

I am currently running DragonDictate 3.02 on Windows XP Professional. It runs okay... some very minor problem will show up occasionally but nothing major to worry about.
Good luck with the new OS and computer! Feel free to contact me if you need any further information.
Cheers!

Why would you want to stick
Why would you want to stick to DD?

I have the same issue. I
I have the same issue. I prefer DD to NS because, as a programmer, I use commands far more that I use dictation. The DD interface for creating/modifying commands is far superior to NS. Within DD, I can easily access all the commands I have created for an applictaion. NS is far more cumbersome, requiring several navigation steps.
If there is any product out there that has the DD-like capability for accessing/adding/modifying custom comands, I would like to know. Thanks.
ViaVoice will probably do
ViaVoice will probably do what you require.
The one to get is ViaVoice Pro USB 10.5 (which shows on the box as being Pro USB 10).
There is no limit to the commands that you can create. However to modify any commands, it is necessary to delete the existing one and recreate a new one. Before deleting the existing one, one makes a note of the details, and recreate with any modifications required. There is no VB facility for creating macros.

have a look at the unimacro
have a look at the unimacro package.
For example the _keystrokes grammar was designed to imitate and enhance the possibility to do any sort of keystrokes by voice.
With the _commands grammar you can easily maintain your commands global and local.

I was able to run in on W2K, although I haven't tried it since upgrading to SP4.
For managing commands on DNS 8, David Austin's SayWhatPro is a powerful tool:
