Using DNS to access the web

After "talking" to several people off-list and on-list, it seems that many people have no clue how to access the web using Dragon NaturallySpeaking!!
It seems we've all gotten so used to email and other programs on our computer that we've not tried surfing the web by voice!
We are very fortunate that Dan Newman has his entire book "Dragon NaturallySpeaking Guide" online. It's the Second Edition, for Dragon version 4 but you'll find that the majority of things in there work for later versions too. Once you get a handle on this you can then read whatever documentation you have for your version to see if there are any later tricks they've put in!
You can get to this book by going to
http://www.speechcomputing.com/dnsbook
The entire 288 page book is there. Chapter 7 has the information on Web access by voice.
You do need the Adobe free reader to read the book (each chapter is by itself). There is a link on the above page to download the reader if you lack it.

Accessing links
In version 8, and perhaps in version 7, you can say "text" and all of the hyperlinks on the page will become numbered. You can then say the number of the link you want to visit.

I use "button" and "image" as well as "text" (and "link") on a new web page; but "text" does seem to be the best one to use here

Netscape?
Skip,
Does web surfing by speech recognition work with Netscape 7 or 8? Netscape 7.2 does not seem to be working on your web site.

The author did not allow screen reader access to the book.
I'm legally blind and can not see the monitor. I use a screen reader called Jaws for Windows to read the screen, and I was very disappointed that I had no access to the book.
Can you read PDF files?
Can your software read a PDF file? If so, I'll see if Dan would allow me to put the relevant portions online here for reading.
If not, please tell me the preferred method and I'll see what I can do to accomodate you.
