Writing WSR macros

Having moved over to the unknowns of Win 7 (thumbs up) and Office 2007 (is going to take a lot of getting used to), I'm giving WSR a try and wonder if someone can give me a hand in creating macros using keystrokes (Send Keystrokes in WSR macros). I've read the instructions but feel they could be a little clearer and contain some specific examples particularly for more complex commands.

My first task is to convert some of my Vocola/Unimacro commands (where possible). I have a fair number that simply run a VBA macro, for example this one runs PasteUnformatted that will generate unformatted text when pasting.

Paste Unformatted = {Alt+f8}PasteUnformatted{Alt+R}

I tried

{{ALT}}{{F8}} PasteUnformatted{ALT}r

and one or two slight variations, but it didn’t work, the View Macros box is opened, but that’s as far as it gets.

Thanks for any advice

Are you aware of the WSRToolkit? It is a $15.99 WSR software that adds 7 functions:
1. Text Macros - easily create boilerplate macros that inserts blocks of text at a single voice command. For example, at the end of my letters I say, "Sign off," and my name, company name and web site are inserted.
2. Command Macros allow you create step by step macros that utilize keyboard combinations. For example, I say, "Import Orders" and the macro executes Alt+f for the file menu, then "U" for Utilities, then "I" for Import etc.
3. The Macro Editor window allows editing or creating script macros
4. Train From Text allows you to select the text of your choosing and read it to the system. This trains the 'Acoustic Model' of your speech profile to make it more likely your words will appear according to your style of speaking.
5. Add To Dictionary provides an easy way to add words or phrases to your personal speech dictionary
6. Add From File parses personal MS-Word and Text documents of your choosing to increase dictation accuracy.
7. Transcription reads your wave (.WAV) file from a digital recorder and transcribes it to text.

Using feature 2 above you can easily create a series of keystroke commands. Also available, a $9.99 book, "WSRMacros: The User’s Guide."

You are aware that there is

You are aware that there is a version of Vocola specifically for WSR, right? Your existing Vocola macros should pretty much work as is or after a simple conversion step that Rick describes. Vocola 3 also fixes a number of WSR dictation issues (e.g., can dictate into any application without the spelling dialog box).

I am aware of both Vocola

I am aware of both Vocola and the Toolkit, I want to take this transition slowly and try to learn as much as possible about WSR, my point is that the documentation supplied for WSR Macros isn't particularly clear and I would like to try and understand how commands are written and work, of course if I find that third-party applications could be of help I will give them careful consideration, I just don't want to complicate things unnecessarily at this stage.

To make the picture

To make the picture complete: also Dragonfly works with WSR, Qu

Thanks, that was something I

Thanks, that was something I didn't know.

The correct syntax is as

The correct syntax is as follows:

{{ALT}}{F8}PasteUnformatted{{ALT}}r

In order to run a VBA macro, simply enter its name in the command in place of "PasteUnformatted"

Hi Bill,

Yes I did have a good look before my original post but didn't find very much that I could use and I also sent an e-mail to Microsoft with a specific question and never got a reply, makes me wonder if they are really listening Sad

In addition Rob Chambers seems to gone AWOL, nothing on his blog since January, he's probably snowed under with work, don't understand why Microsoft doesn't allocate more resources to WSR (IMHO a potentially great application), one or two extra SR staff are hardly going to affect its overall budget.

WSR Macro book

The macro book that Marty Markoe sells is well worth the 10 bucks for anybody getting started with writing WSR macros.
