VXI Xpressway Bluetooth 3 Way Headset
eMicrophones is offering the new VXI Xpressway Bluetooth Headset. The VXI Xpressway uses the latest Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and multipoint pairing. The VXI Xpressway offers speech recognition users the unique benefit of being able to choose one of 3-wearing styles in a Bluetooth headset:
a. Over the ear
b. Behind the neck
c. Over the head
In addition, you can charge in an AC outlet, USB port or even in your automobile.
Although there were some high profile microphone vendors with did not like the previous model VXI TalkPro GTX Bluetooth headsets, we found them to be as reliable, accurate, and moderately noise canceling as they are VXI TalkPro brethren. Frankly, we do not find the new VXI Xpressway to be revolutionary in terms of accuracy and noise canceling as we still attained a 99% accuracy rating on the 300 + word and command test passage, The Rainbow Passage in moderate noise conditions. The only wireless microphones to do better were the Sennheiser BW 900 at 99.5% and the Samson Airline 77 USB which scored 100% on the test passage. These are highly trained and repetitive passages and does not mean that you will get 100% accuracy or 99% accuracy etc.

1st Acceptable Bluetooth Microphone for NaturallySpeaking
VXI Parrott asked us to test their latest Bluetooth microphone offering. We were initially hesitant because we've tested numerous Bluetooth microphones, like the B150 GTX and found them to be less than desirable with up to 50% of them being returned. Although a number of speech recognition/microphone vendors chose to carry the B150-GTX, Plantronics Calisto and the Andrea Electronics BT-200, we refused to carry these Bluetooth microphones because they simply didn't measure up to our standards. However, we are happy to report that we have done a complete about-face on Bluetooth not being ready for prime time. We found the BlueParrott Xpressway to be unquestionably the best Bluetooth microphone on the market and the only wireless solution we can recommend for “on the go” mobile notebook and tablet computer users.

We apologize for this posting turning into an advertisement but we were very impressed the Xpressway’s accuracy, noise cancellation and most importantly, price! Besides being wireless, the Xpressway is less expensive than many high-end wired headsets making this choice a, pardon the pun, “KnowBrainer”!

VXI Xpressway and Windows Speech Recognition?
Will this new microphone work well with Windows Speech Recognition? Thanks.

Unfortunately, one of the disadvantages of WSR is that for the time being, it doesn't support Bluetooth.

We had been hopeful the VXI Xpressway would work well with WSR in order to be able to offer an inexpensive wireless solution. Our reason for being hopeful is that the new headset specifies it samples audio at 16 kHz, which is what WSR supposedly samples at.
Although this Bluetooth microphone performs somewhat better than the previous VXI in WSR and all of those little cell phone headsets, we could not get accuracy higher than 80-85 percent.
VXI was able to work with the developers of Dragon NaturallySpeaking where both the software and the headset were tweaked to make it work. We are hoping somehow or other this can be done with WSR as well.
