One Profile, Two Computers

I have recently installed a separate purchase of Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Preferred onto a second computer in our office. Which leaves me with one woman who uses the application every day, two computers running the software and one profile. I have already exported the profile from PC1 onto PC2.

My question (if you understand any of that above) is can I somehow sync... maybe put the profile on the network and make it one file. Somehow make it to where she isn't improving the programs reaction to her speech on one machine and leaving the other install behind.

BrettBVap, first, why did

BrettBVap,

first, why did you purchase another copy of Dragon 10 Preferred? If the software is used by just one person, as can be concluded from your posting, it is perfectly legal to install it one more than one computer. Perhaps you might check this first and try to return the second copy, if this is still possible. But you'd better make sure first that this works, because sometimes you get copies of Dragon which can't be installed more than once at a time. Whenever you uninstall Dragon from a computer also make sure that you are connected to the internet, so you'll gain back one activation from the Nuance server, of which you have up to 10, if you've purchased a legal copy.

Second, if you were using the Professional Version of Dragon, you could set up a server profile which can be accessed from different workstations, and be synchronized along the process, so that all changes would go into that profile. In the Preferred Version, you don't have that option, but you've got options.

You can place the profile on a thumb stick and move the thumb stick around to the computer, on which you are currently working with Dragon. You can even leave the profile entirely on the thumb stick and load it from there, saving it back to the stick when you're done.

I used to work like this for years while I was using Dragon on a desktop at the office, and on another one at home, and never had a problem with it.

Hope this helps

Live Mesh

You can use MS Live Mesh to sync profiles as well - works very well for me. I run pro but lack a standard server, so use Mesh to keep my profile in sync across multiple machines.

.

Wasn't my call on the new purchase. Just following the bossmans words heh.

Can I just take the first computers profile location (Computer named \\Ship\) and browse to that on my other computer with the second install of Dragon NatSpeak Preferred?

I read somewhere about hardware compatibility. For instance do I need to have the same sound card? Or is it just the same bluetooth adapter/headset?

If I locate the user profile on neither of the two machines but instead upon our Server will that in its self cause issues?

I see you are waiting for

I see you are waiting for orders, so here you go.

1. You could do this if you can be connected to your first computer, and if the location shows up in the "Open Users" dialogue of Dragon.

2. If using one profile on different computers, you will be good advise to always use the same kind of input device on both.

3. Just try it.
