changing the New-Paragraph command

I posted this before on the VoiceGroup forum but didn't get a reply. Thought I would try it here.

In DNS8, I would like to change the spoken form for New-Paragraph to just "paragraph." I plan to create another new command to be able to create the text word "paragraph."

I have given "spoken forms" to a lot of other words, but I don't want to do this with a "built-in" formatting word until I am sure I am going to do it right (and not scar the Dragon).

PS: configuring Mozilla Thunderbird to pull down this site as an RSS feed is much handier than having to log into yahoogroups. Thanks, Skip

You're Welcome

Glad it's working well for you. Perhaps you could write a short article on how the RSS feed is helping and how to set it up in Thunderbird?

RSS Feed in Mozilla Thunderbird

Setting this up is easy but not intuitive.

Open a browser window with www.speechcomputing.com

Open Mozilla Thunderbird

In Thunderbird, Click on File > New > Account and select RSS News and Blogs

That puts a "News and Blogs" on your folder list on the left side of the Thunderbird window.

HIghlight New and Blogs, and select Manage Subscriptions from the window that opens.

YOu will now have a blank window with Add, Edit and Delete buttons. Select the Add button and bring up the next window with the cursor on the "Feed URL" input box.

Now, go back to www.speechcomputing.com in your browser window. Find the orange "XML" button under "Syndicate" on the lower right side of the screen. RIGHT-click that button and select "Copy Link Location."

Go back to the "Feed URL" input box and past that link in. Then click "OK" and you see the messages start to download.

Now, you should see a new folder under News and Blogs called Speech Computing where all the message should be.

Now, you can just leave Thunderbird open and forum messages will come in just like email.

RSS isn't working for me

Stan:

I set my Thunderbird up as you said, and the first time I got all the messages on the board. I haven't been able to download any since, and I've had to come to the website to see new replies.

Any idea what I did wrong?

Scott

how I changed new paragraph

Stan:

In vocabulary editor, I added a new word, "doubelinefee" (not "doublelinefeed", as I initially tried, because I got "double line feet" alot! I like this word, because it is easier to say than "paragraph".

Then, in properties (where you go to add alternate spellings, etc), about half way down, there's a drop-down list that gives several options on how to handle this word. One of them is "new paragraph". Now when I say "doublelinefee", I get a new paragraph every time. No need to pause before and after, since it's not a macro, but a vocabulary word.

If I haven't described the drop-down box position well, I apologize. I'm not at my comp with Dragon on it, so I'm going by memory. If you can't figure it out, I'll try to clarify on Monday.
