text editor recommendations for WSR

Windows/MS Speech Recognition

Hey folks, do those of you using Vista speech have any recommendations for voice-friendly text editors? I've been using win32pad for a long time for both general text editing and dictating into non-speech-enabled windows. I like it because it is small and fast (startup is nearly instant) and it shows line numbers, which simplifies navigation and editing. Since the edit window it uses is a "first class" control from the point of view of speech recognition, it supports full dictation and editing in both DNS and Vista Speech. However, development on it seems to have stopped and it is having significant problems with large files on Vista.

What text editor(s) are you using and what are your experiences?

As far as I know, the latest version of Notepad++ doesn't work with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10, but version 4.1.2 does work. The download page for Notepad++ lists all the older versions, fortunately.

Unfortunately, it does not work with Windows Speech Recognition.

it's too bad, but Russ is right: I tried three different versions of notepad++ with no love in WSR. Menus and dictation work but not any of the selection functionality.

Amusing/frustrating quirk: the help menu in notepad++ is labeled "?" for some reason, so I'm forever toggling the help menu instead of putting question marks at the end of my sentences!

I am currently using Notepad++ version 5.3.1. Dragon NaturallySpeaking works fine with this application in Windows XP. However, this application does not support select and say.

I don't have Vista so I can't comment on this application when used on that operating system.

I am currently using Notepad++ version 4.9.2 and Select-and-Say works fine for me.

Note that I'm using Dragon version 10.1 Professional on a Windows XP workstation.
