ViaVoice with Lotus Symphony
I downloaded the free Lotus Symphony from IBM and tried to get WSR to dictate into the word processor. No luck. Only Text Services Framework products will allow dictation from WSR. I do like the classic pull down menus on Lotus.
After reading Penrod, likewise I downloaded and installed the latest free Lotus Symphony from IBM to try it with ViaVoice.
I also imported the Lotus macros from the ViaVoice set-up disk into ViaVoice, and then tried it out.
I was quite impressed with the results, since some of the most relevant ViaVoice Natural Commands appear to work in Lotus Symphony.
However I'm still experimenting with Lotus, to see what it will do that MS-Office won't. (My comparison is with Office 97.) I have a long way to go
I note it is using Direct Dictation, but that does not seem to cause any problems.
I can't say that I am as happy with the Lotus wordprocesser compared to Word. For example, I notice that there is a significant delay from the time I click on a menu item to its opening, and creating toolbar buttons appears to be quite complicated.
However I shall persevere

As a ryder to my last
As a ryder to my last posting, I have had to uninstall Lotus Symphony because I found that it was slowing up other programmes, such as Word and Firefox, and reaction times to the mouse and context menus.
So therefore there will be no further news on this subject.
