Except for being somewhat less powerful than most notebook computers or desktop computers, there is no reason you cannot use a Tablet PC for fast and accurate speech recognition. Many professional users use either Dragon NaturallySpeaking with either XP or Vista or Windows® Speech Recognition built into the Vista Operating System.
Ideally you would like to have a Core 2 Duo processor or better and at least 2 GB of RAM for best performance. Some of the latest Tablet PCs have perfectly good open sound cards. If for some reason your sound card picks up electronic noise which would distort the audio signal for speech recognition, you can simply add a USB sound pod. Sound pods are sound cards that sit outside of the computer and do not pick up electronic noise from within.

Just adding to Martin's advice… we believe that approximately 50% of our customer base (which is mostly physicians) now use tablet computers and considering that we are the world's #1 volume vendor of the professional versions of NaturallySpeaking, that number is considerable. If you would like additional information you might also consider checking out the speech recognition Computer Forum.
