DS-5000 whips the Philips 9600
Of course if you use the superior Olympus DS-5000, as noted in our DS-5000 vs Philips 9600 Review, software and firmware upgrades are automatic and you don't have to go looking for them. We sell both the Olympus DS-5000 and the Philips 9600 so we have no financial reason to recommend one over the other because they are both $500 MAP priced but if that $500 price tag is too high, Olympus just released the new DS-2400 which is nearly 50% off the price of its big brother and features the same DS2 algorithm technology. The ONLY digital recorders that we can recommend for use with NaturallySpeaking are those featuring DS2 algorithms and they're currently only 3 recorders with this capability. You can find additional information on all 3 of these recorders in the previous hyperlink.
