Word adds letter

When I am starting dictating into Word, it has started adding an "x" at the beginning of the text file. It does this just out of the blue and I can't figure out why it is doing that. If I backspace over the X, it puts it in again attached to the first word I dictate, for example if the sentence started "I walked my dog to the store," it would write xI walked my dog to the store. The "x" comes on the screen as soon as I open a blank Word document. Does anyone know how I can stop Word from doing that?

Thank you.

Presumably you are using

Presumably you are using Word 2003 with VV 10.5.

I came across this some years ago when dictating directly into a text file. However it never happen to me in Word 97.

Are you are dictating directly, or did you solve the problem of word recognition in VV 10.5?

Added making examination of my wife's computer's MS Office 2003 folder and file structure, and quite frankly it seems to be all over the place. Some of it is in Documents and Settings, with a separate templates (boilerplates) folder, and others are in Program Files. I never understood this. With Word 97, it is all in Program Files, including the templates. It may well be that VV installation had problems placing the Word plug-ins in the correct folders. I suspect that this could be a problem with the Word and MS-Office 2003 installation.

If you have installation disks for MS-Office 2003, I would suggest that your uninstall it from your computer (backing up your user data files), uninstall VV(backing up your user voice folder (s) ). Don't forget to use Viaclean after uninstalling VV. Use a registry cleaner such as RegScrub or CcCleaner to clear out all registry entries, reinstall MS Office, and reinstall VV. (Re-boot after each uninstallation and installation. )
