Location of speech files (one more time)

Before I installed DNS 9, I had my speech files on drive D, where they would get backed up regularly. I just discovered (the hard way) that DNS 9 reverted to storing them on drive C, where they don't.

I've tried creating a new vocabulary, but DNS doesn't give me the option of specifying its location. I can't find the instructions for creating speech files in a location of my choice, or moving them there. How is it done?

KnowBrainer Quick Tips

You will find a step-by-step on copying your
user files when you look up “copying” in our Quick Tips.
Don't forget that you will need to change your Windows Explorer default options
to show hidden files and folders. Once you would located your user files, you
can move them anywhere you want; even your desktop. The next time you launch NaturallySpeaking
it won't know where your user files are but you can click the browse button and
point NaturallySpeaking in the right direction. After you do this once,
NaturallySpeaking will automatically re-map your user files directory and you
shouldn't have to repeat the procedure. You might also look up “thumb” while
you are in our Quick Tips because it includes a step-by-step on relocating your
user files to thumb drive and may be more appropriate, even if you don't move
them to thumb drive.

You're over complicating the issue with creating a new vocabulary. When you create
new vocabulary you create that vocabulary for the user you have open at what
ever address it is located at.

I tried that, but it did not work out as described. When I started DNS, it simply opened the New User Wizard and prompted me to create a user. There was no Browse button. I clicked the Advanced button, but that opened a dialog box for setting vocabulary file options; still no Browse button.

Open User Menu

Just cancel out of the new user wizard and go to the NaturallySpeaking 'Open User' menu. You will see a Browse button and the rest should be straightforward.
