Is DNS 8 Professional compatible with Mozilla Firefox?
Submitted by spartacus516 on Thu, 05/01/2008 - 03:43.
I have DNS 8 Professional Version and I was wondering if it's compatible with Mozilla Firefox. In the past I've used Internet Explorer and DNS was able to read the links on web pages. However, in an effort to accommodate my visual disability, I recently switched to using Mozilla Firefox because it allows me to increase the font size much larger than Internet Explorer.
DNS is unable to read any of the links when I use Mozilla Firefox. Is there some way to adjust my settings on Dragon or on Mozilla Firefox in order to allow Dragon to read the links?

While DNS 9 professional
While DNS 9 professional works better with Firefox then DNS 8 does (because DNS 9 can read the menus and options), I used Firefox with DNS 8 without any problems. You will need to look into the Mouseless Browsing extension for Firefox, and get used to accessing the menus by saying "alt foxtrot". If you upgrade to 9 you'll also want to look for "pin results window" or the shifting results window will drive you insane.
I am hands-free and never use Internet Explorer -- Firefox and Opera only.
Dragon 9 was designed with
Dragon 9 was designed with natural language support for Firefox, however version 8 wasn't. As the previous poster says you can make it work to a degree, but 9 is far better suited.
KnowBrainer Firefox Automation
Since you are using Pro 8, you have the
tools to do a good deal of your own automation by writing commands for
Firefox or you can take a look at KnowBrainer
2007 (third-party command product) which includes Firefox support. If you
would like to learn more about KnowBrainer click What
is KnowBrainer and if you are physically disabled, KnowBrainer is freely
available to you.

Can you give me some specific examples, KnowBrainer?
You mentioned that I can do "a good deal of automation" with Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional 8 and Mozilla Firefox. Can you give me some specific examples? I'm not interested in how to write the commands. I'm just looking for a general sense of what commands you were thinking of.
KnowBrainer Firefox
Our previously recommended What
is KnowBrainer PDF file includes an explanation and a number of sample
commands but as far as Firefox is concerned, KnowBrainer includes all the menu
and submenu commands like Navigation
Toolbar which clicks View/Toolbars/Navigation Toolbar plus zooming,
scrolling, Tab control and even Back
and Forward 1 to 10 pages commands.
In other words everything we could think of plus the ability to create personal
Advanced-Scripting commands for the things that we haven't thought of yet
