When do I train DNS9 in a call center?

I work in a call center. The IT guy will be installing DNS9 on my computer soon. When is the best time to train it so that it will best recognize my voice, when it is quiet or when other people around me are talking? I do have the Boom O microphone & Buddy USB.
Thanks

I would suggest you do the initial training in a quieter environment, but if you feel your voice is a bit more "forced" when working you need to use this kind of voice.

However when you start using it within the call center, do a "check audio" to re-calibrate the audio levels, so that they are suitable for the now much noiser environment.

As a matter of interest how many users are there in a room with you - are others going to be using it as well or just you? What are you using it for call wrap up only? How are you swapping between the telephone call and Dragon input on the headset?

Dragon usage, call center headset

Thank you both for your responses!
I work for an insurance company auto claims adjuster, bodily injury. I use the Dragon a lot,(7.3 Professional version, can't wait to upgrade to 9) for about 90% of what I do. There are 50 people in the "room", all in cubicles. I'm the only Dragon user. I currently have 2 headsets to swap between the phones and Dragon. I looked into call-center headsets,Sennheiser seems to be the best for noise canceling but it doesn't have playback.

We assume the Sennheiser Headset you're
referring to is the Hybrid
Sennheiser ME3
which was originally modified and made popular by the
engineers at emicrophones and KnowBrainer. The ME3 isn't a good choice for
you because as you pointed out, it has no speakers.

You could use a single ear headset but most
of our call center clients prefer dual speakers to help isolate sounds from
the other cubicles and make it easier for them to hear the person on the
other end of the phone line. theBoom
“O”
microphone is our single speaker recommendation but we think you
would be better served by theBoom
“C”
dual speaker microphone. You can also check our test results on the Microphone
Comparison Matrix
. Our in-house and independent test results found
theBoom line of microphones to be slightly more accurate than the popular
Senneheiser ME3 and theBoom line of microphones are more flexible in that
they can double as a wireless landline and cellphone headset.

Unfortunately the profit margins on theBoom
line of microphones are a bit slim so some vendors have discontinued offering them.
The most popular anti-theBoom sentiment is that the headset breaks and this
was true a couple of years ago but the headsets have been reinforced for over
a year and we've never had a return of a broken headset.

DNS Upgrade Note: The NaturallySpeaking
Pro 9.5
upgrade is 35% out-of-the-box more accurate than Ver. 7 but this
is just the tip of the iceberg. We understand that today's economy is rather
tight but when it comes to the tools you need for your job, always purchase
the best. We won't disagree that NaturallySpeaking seems to be a bit
high-priced but when the software actually makes you money by making you more
efficient, no price is too high. We spent the entire weekend writing commands
to automate our forum posting workflow and although it literally took hours
away from our weekend, our specialized commands have made us 20% more efficient
which means we have more time to dedicate to other projects which means more
ca$h in our pocket. It all started 18 months ago when we upgraded to DNS Pro 9.5.

It May Not Matter

 theBoom
“O”
microphone is very noise canceling and designed for just this type of
work. We tend to agree with “Dragonuser” but with theBoom "O", it
may not make much difference either way because it's designed for this type
of noisy abuse.

Depending on which version
NaturallySpeaking you are using, you may be able to take verbal notes and
dial phone numbers. This is how we run our company.

My set up: Athlon dual core

My set up: Athlon dual core 3700 processor, 2 gigabytes DDR RAM, Sennheiser M E3, Andrea a USB pod for microphone input, windows XP

I have a follow-up question for this. Whenever I call in for tech support on my computer, I would love to be able to use Dragon since I have terrible tendinitis. However, this generally confuses the helpdesk adviser to no end because they hear me talk to the computer. Even if I tell them okay I'm about to talk to the computer they find it confusing. The problem may be with my phone set up-I only have speakerphone and using my hands. Do I want a separate headset that I actually change headsets with? If so it's probably not worth the money since this is a limited activity.

You Shouldn't Need a Separate Headset

You won't need a separate headset if you
have a mute button on your telephone and most phones do. We run our entire
company, including dialing phone numbers, with NaturallySpeaking/KnowBrainer
and we typically momentarily mute the client to deploy a voice command. When
you use the mute button you are only muting your telephone microphone input.
You should still be able to hear the person at the other end of the line.
