I am a student programmer working in Linux and am taking my first steps towards trying to get work done by voice control due to RSI. I am running dragon 9.0 and have started using vocola to write macros for bash, as well as customizing some of the existing macros for Web browsing and e-mail, etc. My overarching question is what tools people recommend for such work, pointers to pre-existing macros, and any other helpful advice folks have to offer.

A few questions to get the ball rolling:

* I saw from a recent post in this forum that there are a variety of macro languages available -- do you think vocola will suffice for my needs, or should I really be using a different language? So far I've been very happy with it, except that I've been unable to find pre-existing macros for working with the shell and programming.

* can I use Dragon macros via vocola? I found some here: http://www-uxsup.csx.cam.ac.uk/~dnb1002. I have a sub-professional version of Dragon currently, but would consider upgrading if there were compelling motivation it would make my job easier (e.g. perhaps there are wonderful programming macros out there in Dragon's language, but I can't run them without the upgrade).

* has anyone worked with voice code: http://voicecode.iit.nrc.ca/VoiceCode/public/ywiki.cgi. Does it offer much beyond macro programming? Is that Python only? Are there other programming environments tailored to speech that people recommend?
