Wirelesss Airline 77 review by non-sighted user
eMicrophones received the following unedited message from a non-
sighted customer in New Delhi, India who recently purchased the
Samson Airline 77 wireless microphone
Martin Markoe, eMicrophones, Inc.
Hi Martin,
I am extremely pleased that I elected to purchase the Samson airline 77.
Accuracy is indeed significantly improved. In about 99% of cases, the microphone is even able to pick up articles. On top of that, the number of corrections I have had to make has almost halved. This is of course an approximation.
As to the actual headset, I am glad that it does not cover my ears. Yes, there are times when it gets and comfortable especially if it slides backwards. So far, I have been able to correct that by adjusting the position of the battery box.
I would like to thank you for your patience in answering my questions relating to this product. If it hadn't been for those answers, I would not have bought it.
I am going to elaborate on certain aspects of this microphone. From a blindness perspective, the microphone was quite easy to set up. There was no chance of me inserting the wrong jack into the wrong port. The only tricky bit was where I had to tie the knot in the power cable. Fortunately, I had my fully cited dad with me so he was able to read the manual and tie the knot.
Note:
I make such a big deal about the knot because my left palm is partially formed and is shaped like a hammer. It is not easy for me to tie knots.
The receiver is an extremely interesting device. Luckily, I really had to make no settings there. Yes, I read the manual from your website. When I remove the packaging, I could not understand what the screwdriver was for.
Then I read about the squelch control. Fortunately, I have not needed to adjust that. The other good thing about the receiver is the well spaced out LEDs. I can use a light probe to detect what LED is lit. Because they are well spaced out, I am able to tell whether power is on and whether the receiver is receiving transmissions from the microphone.
I like the briefcase like packing case of the microphone. Also, I am extremely grateful to the fact that it survived Indian customs. I have always considered the Customs Department to be made up of brutes who really have no concern for the parcels they handle. Yes, since the package had been opened, all that nice packing thermacole had been thrown away. In spite of that, the microphone survived intact.
I am still looking for a step down transformer for that battery charger.
I'm actually planning to buy a desktop battery charger and avoid the hassle of playing around with additional pieces of equipment. Plus, I find these kinds of battery chargers to be extremely inconvenient. How am I supposed to plug in such a large piece of equipment into a socket especially when that socket is behind a table and I can barely put my arm in to reach it?
I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and look forward to buying other products from emicrophones and would like to take this opportunity to wish all a few the very best for the coming year.
Pranav
