VV10.5 VoiceCenter Critical Error
Just yesterday on attempting to save a dictated note from VV speakpad the error box popped up showing VoiceCenter Critical Error.
with a big red X and the message "GlobalTable mapping failed for entry-size<12>max_entries<0>flags<1>"
The whole dictation was lost, and had to close the application with CTRL-alt-del.
Rebooted the machine which is running windows XP.
After rebooting, opening VV 10.5 again, and exactly the same thing occurs whether saving the speakpad document as a doc file or a vps file.
While this has not happened before, I have noticed that it has been taking a very long time to save files.
I then uninstalled VV 10.5 using the control panel add/delete programs. I then used viaclean to remove any viavoice files. After rebooting each time I did a new install of ViaVoice 10.5, I restored an older backup version of my voice model. Dictation went fine but again got exactly the same error message. I tried with another voice model and exactly the same thing happened.
Do any of you have any ideas what is happening including crivon1 who has previously helped me greatly with VV problems.
I've got VV running on a desktop and on another laptop, but would sure like to know what to do.
Any ideas?

The only idea I can come up
The only idea I can come up with this that VV is not recognising your microphone.
I would suggest a microphone test and maybe that might source the problem. I have had the experience of my microphone not been recognised and re-booting solved the problem.

VV10.5 VoiceCenter Critical Error
Quentin,
ViaVoice is recognizing the microphone just fine. The entire dictation goes entirely smoothly until some attempt is made to save it. I am not dictating into other applications but dictating only into SpeakPad. Rebooting has not helped. And as I mentioned above even a complete reinstall was not helpful.
I really have no idea which way to turn. I have just purchased DNS as I need voice transcription for my practice.
Would appreciate any other ideas.
George
Have you tried directly
Have you tried directly dictating into Wordpad and saving it to see if you get the same saving problem?
Try dictating into Word and saving.
I suspect that you may have a virus, trojan or a Windows problem. Have you run all the diagostics through for these, including the Windows error checking?

VV Error
G Griggs,
I'm not sure if you belong to the court reporting compuserve but there is an individual under the voicewriting section that is knowledgable in VV. He signs with -Z-. I think his first name might be Mike Zajdel. Anyway, if you don't belong, the easiest way to find compuserve is go to google and type court reporter compuserve in the search and it takes you right there and you could join. There are other folks that are also experienced in VV as well.
When you say your computer is running slow, you might check, clicking in the right corner of your computer, right click, and click on Task Manager. Look at your performance and the Processes tab. It's possible there might be an application that is using a lot of your RAM. You might run a defrag on your computer as well. I'm sure you've updated with the latest Windows update as well, so you should be covered there.
Good Luck,
Kimberly
VV10.5 Voice Center Critical Error
Kimberly,
I appreciate your suggestions.
I have been our for about a week having surgery and have not tried VV again until today.
On doing so I was amazed to find that there was no slow-down at all of the system and was not able to repeat the critical error, which as I mentioned happened repeatedly after two reinstalls of the program. I am completely mystified as to what happened and why is its better.
I will keep in mind your suggestions if the problem recurs.
Thank you.
George
Delighte that it has sorted
Delighte that it has sorted itself out. It must have been the surgery
Quentin
George Now that you have
George
Now that you have everything up and running, in order to prevent further "surgery", might I suggest that to do a complete clean-up of your C drive by running your anti-virus to become any stray virus or trojans that might be lurking and causing problems, clean out your temporary internet folder, history and temporary files that are not needed, run an error check on the disc, and finally having done all this, make an image of your C drive and store it somewhere safely.
I follow this procedure once a month, after updating from Microsoft, and this has saved me on numerous occasions.
If you're dictating into Word, turn on the autosave to automatically save every, say, three minutes. Again this has saved me on a number of occasions.

VV Critical Error
That is great! I was working on my configuration with VV and there are configuration changes you can make that will track errors so that if you can talk to someone, for instance, with your CAT software if you use it, they can see in detail what is going on.
Good luck and hopefully those gremlins are gone for good!
