Its not clear what you want

Its not clear what you want to do -- maybe there's just too many words Smiling

Let me suggest one interpretation of what you might mean. Then maybe you can use that rubric to clarify your request. Once we clarify the request, it'll give you a better shot at getting some help.

You want to produce the scripture's verse number followed by the actual scripture enclosed in quotation marks, like this:

17 "[Scripture]"

where "[Scripture]" is the actual scripture text corresponding to the preceding verse number.

Is that close? Or should it be something else?

answer - formatting bible verses.....

Hi,

Sorry about the book. Sometimes I can explain it, but for what I do, it's hard to explain it. In offline, the quotes in anything appear everytime there is quoted material in pop-on captioning - that's different from realtime. What I meant is there are verses in the bible that don't finish the sentence for either one or two verses subsequentially. So, I don't want quotes around every verse or every macro. It needs to be around the opening quote and if the 1st verse doesn't end in a period, I need the following verse to continue without breaking a line and also to NOT have quotes around the next verse since it continues finishing the sentence from the first verse. I also do not want the numbers to appear - it's counterproductive anyway, and detracts from the text appearing. Since I've posted this, I have been working at it. That's why I wanted to know what templates were within Via. Does that explain it? Somehow the reader has to know that it's being quoted. Italics is another option, however, that's more for offline captioning. I've seen it both ways though - just so long as I can quote it with it formatting properly.

Thanks

Sorry, its still not very

Sorry, its still not very clear to me, but maybe it makes more sense to someone who works with captioning. In any case, I think you're asking more than ViaVoice can deliver.

Unfortunately, the captioning software maker has no incentive to upgrade to a modern, more powerful speech recognition product, like Dragon or Vista SR, which, like ViaVoice, are general purpose applications designed to interact with a wide variety of applications and updated OSes. He is working in a closed system he creates and maintains. Keeping everything as it is minimizes his costs and problems.

But don't let my guesses discourage your investigations -- it may be that you can figure out a way to do what you need to do within your constraints.

Good luck!

Whilst, like Bruce, I am unclear as to what you are trying to do, I suspect Dictation Macros might be your workaround. If you were to copy and paste the entire scriptural quotation you need, create a Dictation Macro for that with a unique name, so that you only have to say the unique name for it to appear on-screen. However this may be too simplistic for what you require.

Hello Quentin,

I already have gone that route. It's more of a formatting issue. Captions need to be done correctly and there is a standard so I am trying to keep with that. Evenutally, I will be completely on the steno machine and won't have to deal with the voice recognition and that will be great.

Thanks for the input

Poor Dove Lover! Retrogression is never a cheerful prospect! (Well, maybe going from Vista to XP is the exception that proves that rule:-)

Sounds like you need prayer.
