Hello,
What exactly does the "create template" do in Via Voice? Can you explain it?
What do people use it for?
Also what is the field and insert functions within that window do? I tried to read on it, but didn't quite grasp it? Can you help?
Thanks,

Pretty much the same as in
Pretty much the same as in Word.
I've never used VV templates (boilerplates in the US). Mine are all created in word.

Templates in Word
Quentin,
Is it possible to use dictation templates in Word? I had tried doing that earlier without success. I was able to use dictation macros in Word without difficulty, but when it came to templates, that is text with brackets for insertion of dictated text using the "next field" command, I was not able to do that in Word. It would be most helpful if possible.
Thanks.

doesn't anyone know the answer to the template question I posted
Hi,
Just surprised that no one could answer this. The help file in via doesn't really explain this too much. I appreciate someone with expertise to explain it, if possible - thanks....this was my initial question in this thread (first posting).

As suggested, a "template"
As suggested, a "template" is generally a way to enter the same chunk of text with allowance for specific changes, like a form letter with customizable insert fields for, say, the address and name. The specific functional details in ViaVoice is something one of the ViaVoice experts should be able to handle.
PS: Maybe the captioning text software vendor could advise you on how to exploit this capability of ViaVoice, although I would guess its not something they particularly care about or promote.

Well, I did contact the vendor concerning a few things and they loved the idea I had for certain formatting issues. They know only so much as far as Via Voice itself. They know it works with their software and that's about it. I guess this will be a trial and error thing with me inventing my own wheel as I go, so to speak. Everyone, I would assume, can critique Via Voice to work for them in the capacity that they need. My situation is unusual for what I'm wanting to do. Thanks for you input.
