Captioning with ViaVoice and CPC SOFTWARE - have problems with doubled numbers other issues - can you help?

Hello,

I work for a television station. I have been in school for quite some time building speed so that I can caption their programs via steno machine. In the mean time, we are utilizing Via Voice with cpc captioning software for our live programming. What I am wondering is this. More on than off, when I dictate numbers, it doubles them. For instance,

>> Speaker #1: The number of people injured is 450.

It captions this:

>> Speaker #1: The number of people injured was 450 450.

As you can imagine, this is enough to make me pull out my hair! Our program is full of variations of numbers and it's important for them to be correct. Is there anyone here that may have experienced this and if so, do you have an idea what could be causing this? When I am practicing in speakpad, it does not do this - only when I am captioning and dictating through the CPC software. The company is not well-versed in helping with the Via voice issues although their software works with by DNS and VIAVOICE. Do you have any idea what could be doing this and how I might remedy it? Thanks in advance....

Also,

I want only my speaker identifications

(i.e. >> Mr. Roberts: I DON'T THINK I AM ABLE TO MAKE THE MEETING.

to be in upper and lower case, but my dialogue beyond the speaker identifications to be all upper case. I have set my speaker id's as macros. Do you know how I might override or enable my speaker macros to reflect upper and lower case and everything else to be upper case. The CPC Software has a setting to convert everything to uppercase and that is how we have it set, however, I'm trying to figure a way around this. Would there be any type of commands that I could use. When I wanted to italicize something within a Viavoice macro and wanted it to italicize - someone from a forum told me that before the italicized portion to put this: [i:i] and at the end of what I want italicized to place this [i:n], and unfortunately I don't think they understood that I was also captioning with this software and of course, those commands had shown on screen just as they appear now. Do you know how I can override this? There's got to be a way.

Thanks in advance of your help

Hello, thank you, but not finding the answers

Hi Quentin

I appreciate you giving me the links, however, I never found anything that was answering the specific questions I had. I operate on windows xp and there is not internet connected to this computer. I looked at every posting and did not see anything that spoke of the double numbers problem in my live captioning or the formatting issues. I was hoping to find something. I do my next live show tomorrow and Thursday so I'm hoping to find a solution soon.

Thanks for your help anyway,

Dove Lover
