Looking for beta testers for new version of Vocola

I'm almost ready to release the new version of Vocola, 2.5.6. The new version features:

* Many, many minor bugs have been fixed
* Context statement ":" now clears any existing context
* A small library of string functions has been provided
(NatLink\Vocola\Samples\string.vch)
* Toggling the microphone should no longer be necessary to ensure that (new) commands are loaded.

Before I release it widely, I'd like to make sure the installation instructions work correctly. Accordingly, I'm looking for a few friendly beta testers, particularly those with odd Vocola installations. I figure there's probably a 15% probability you will need to reinstall the old version at this point while I make fixes. I've been running the new version for months now so if the installation instructions work for you there shouldn't be any other problems.

If you'd like to help, please reply here with a description of your system set up (e.g., DNS version, OS version, Natlink version, etc.) and how to reach you.

- Thanks,
Mark

If you have the "Personal Contact Form" checked in your account (my account/edit move to contact settings) then it's easy for others to contact you.

If you look under the title of a post, you'll see the next line starts with "Submitted by". The next word is the person that submitted the post or comment. All you have to do is click on the persons name and you'll be taken to their account. If they have a "Contact" tab showing, then you can send them an email by clicking that tab. You won't be shown their email address but they will be given yours. There's also an option to send yourself a copy of the email.

This is all done through the site's email functions.

Hope that helps,
Skip

I checked your account and it's turned on. It doesn't show for your own account. After all, why email yourself? Laughing out loud

To test your instructions to other people on how to email you?

I imagine that's a possible use. There's no option to make the tab appear on your account though.

Hello Mark, great that I

Hello Mark,

great that I know it that way.

What I really miss in Vocola is the possibility to use the ContextMenu-Key. Maybe that's already possible and I have overlooked it. With that Key the ContextMenu is indepedent from the current mouse possition in an App.

Greetings
Udo

???? How about the key {

???? How about the key { shift + f10 }? Should work in any macro system,

Hello all,

Hello all,

my Vocola-wishes for 2008:

  • better support for switching between apps
    • selecting between active apps
    • wait until app is lauched until continuing execution of additional commands
  • better interface to/from Python

UPDATE:
======
When I write an e-mail to somebody, I have in the simplest scenario two variable parts:

  • the e-mail address, e. g xyz
  • the salutation, e. g. Hello XYZ

I just want to start the Vocola-Macro with saying e. g.
"E-Mail new XYZ"
Up to now this is not possible with Vocola.

Thanks and greetings
Udo

This is in fact possible in

This is in fact possible in Vocola if I understand you correctly.

Please ask a more specific question in a separate post.

Working under WINE

I would like to get Vocola running under WINE on my Linux machine, so I'll be interested in the update.

The current one doesn't work due to issues with installing packages from MSIs. As a result, would you consider releasing a ZIP archive of Vocola? I know this has less to do with the beta testing as much as it is a sort of feature request.

Thanks!

Vocola has always been

Vocola has always been available as a ZIP archive; see http://vocola.net/VocolaVersions.html.

The new version will be no exception. Now NatLink is another matter...
