What has happened to recent posts?
Submitted by MarkUK on Mon, 11/19/2007 - 14:42.
Is there any news on the progress of getting the site back to its usual efficiency after the move?
My normal check is to use recent posts to check what is happening, unfortunately this does not seem to include all the forums and has not been updated since 9 November.. it does not seem to recognise my logon either. I was very surprised today to find various additional posts, particularly under the macro forum, which I had completely missed.

EDIT: this post did not register on recent posts either.

I haven't seen an issue with this. Posting has slowed, but that's probably normal for this time of year with many people traveling (nearing Thanksgiving Day in the US) .
I posted several test posts and all of them showed up. They were in the Admin and Dragon forums. Let me know if there's a specific forum 'acting up' and I'll have a look at it.
Cookies should not be an issue here, but it's possible that sessions need to be cleared. I'll do that now, which means everyone will have to log in again.

-- I think it is simply slow posting.
I always get a bit jealous at Thanksgiving time, when we're plodding, holiday-less, towards Christmas... I must get some turkey sandwiches to cheer myself up!

It could be from your connection.
I have always notice that my broadband slows up as soon as the USA goes on line - usually after 7am US time.
On the odd occasions when I have had insomnia and go online at 4 or 5:00am GMT, the broadband speed is incredible, and everything is almost instantaneous.
As I understand it, things can only get worse on this side of the pond, unless there is a massive injection of billions of dollars, pounds and euros into our broadband services. I have noted when using broadband in Boston, where my daughter lives, that online is almost instantaneous at speeds that we can only envy.

Only another month to go before the Christmas holliers

we ('we' omits you, Quentin!) were almost there, leading the world, etc. etc.: BT and the universities did a deal to cable the UK (universities plus nearby towns) with super hi fi cable. Then the Govt decreed competitive cabling with geographical franchising, and the misery we know now....
but we will get there, some time, I suppose... but yes it will take a lot of money. I'm going to move to cable broadband, my BT-line service is anyway poor because the line's poor, but of course BT won't do anything about that.
my broadband isn't too bad, actually.
Only another month to go before the Christmas holliers
true but I could do with a break before then... this is the
time of year, Autum nearly over, evenings still getting darker, and this year, anyway, rain rain rain

Hi Judy,
I think you have probably summed it up. My problem was with IE6 but connecting through the NHS portal... it can be very slow, almost down to dialup speeds at times and I did manage to get the page back with a reload... after a delay.
At home I am using Firefox 3 Beta 1 and so far am not having any problems.

Hello Mark
I use IE 6 and Firefox (I find both have their flaws...) I suspect the portal does have something to do with your problem. I can't be sure as I haven't used IE to connect to this Forum recently

Whatever you did has worked.
Whatever you did has worked. Everything is fine again this morning.. although the last seven threads were all posted at the same time...16hrs 45 minutes ago and have an "-Ignore" suffix.
Many thanks.

The -Ignore suffix was what I put in the title of several test postings.
Glad to hear all is ok.

Sorry, but seems to have gone off again. Was fine last couple of days, but when I opened just now, the recent posts had reverted to "Something a little different" timed as 1 hour 2 minutes ago although the last post here was on the 9th. I logged in and got the up to date list, but when I then went to the home page and back to recent posts, it had logged me out again and gone back to "Something a little different"

tried it again.. it again logged me out and went back to the old page, but, strangely, when I reloaded the page, after half a second it corrected and logged me back in
What browser and version of
What browser and version of it are you using?
I've tried to duplicate what you are seeing and I can't seem to do it with either browser on my end.
It sounds as if you are seeing older cached pages, but I don't run a cache on the website. That means it would have to be in your browser if one is used there.
You might try to clear your browser's cache or try refreshing the recent posts page to see if you get a more recent version. Some browsers have settings for cache control, you might try changing that as well so it refreshes more often.
For the problem of staying logged in, I was having a similar issue with IE until I deleted all cookies for speechcomputing.com and that cleared that up.
