Comparing Microphones and quote accuracy

Message Inquiry:
A woman contacted eMicrophones because she is looking to help her 23 year old son with Cerebral Palsy attain higher accuracy with speech recognition. She wrote:
"One web site had a comparisons chart that narrowed the options?..we want that 98% accuracy if we can get it."

MY RESPONSE:
Accuray is contingent on many factors, not just the microphone.
Factors to consider include:
1. The noise inside the computer which can be bypassed by using a USB sound input.
2. Ambient environmental noise
3. The quality of one's voice (crisp or weak for example)
4. The clarity with which one enunciates. Have Ryan listen to the 3 sound files at the top of our Links/Articles page.

Any one who gives precise percentages for a microphone without taking into account the above factors is not considering the whole picture. I can get 99% accuracy with almost any microphone in quiet conditions as long as I enunciate clearly. If I slur my words (as I do when I get tired), accuracy drops to the mid 90's.
