Site look changing

I've made a few modifications so that if you are registered and logged into the site, a lot of advertising will go away. Log out to see the differences.
More changes may be coming to the front page as well. I'm really considering removing recently posted messages from the front page and replace them. With what I'm not quite sure.
Any ideas on what you'd want to see on there instead of the posts, or is this a case of "Don't fix it if it's not broke!"?
Ideas appreciated.

Skip, I noticed some ads
Skip,
I noticed some ads when they first appeared but by now I pretty much don't even see them. Personally I prefer "Recent Posts" because that's why I come here, but so long as there's a way to get to it directly so that we're recognized, or where we might go to a login and then immediately get referred back to Recent Posts, that would be okay with me.
Hard to know how to react to your suggestion without knowing what might replace Recent Posts. Guess that puts me in the "Don't fix..." group, but I'm open-minded.

Some options MIGHT be: News, Most active topics, recent posts maybe mixed in a couple of columns.
I've also toyed with the idea of personal classifieds, but haven't figured out if I want to do that yet.
I've no problem with ads
I've no problem with ads anyway, Skip.

There could be a top menu of links to most active topics, most recent posts, most recent comments, ?

Um, like:
"SWMSRU seeks simpatico opposite for off-topic discourse."
Well, I can see the possibilities

Did your wife approve this post? {evil grin}

My what?! I mean, once we're into fantasy-land we can just construe reality any way we want
Again, pursuant to KnowBrainer's post, I don't feel the advertising is any problem. If it can bring in a little cash flow, then its worth the slight inconvenience.

The day you stop looking at the menu is the day that your wife should start worrying

Skip doesn't draw any income
Skip doesn't draw any income by advertising products on this forum but he hosts, monitors and dedicates an enormous amount of time maintaining this forum that the rest of us to get to freely ask and answer questions on. Skip even donates additional time answering questions which is above and beyond. We are all fortunate that Skip is willing to support this enterprise because he is certainly not making a profit so we welcome the advertising.
Click through advertising generates precious little income and I know, because I host and monitor the KnowBrainer Speech Recognition Forum which doesn't need to include advertising because we are vendors of NaturallySpeaking and various speech recognition peripherals.
This would be a good time for the rest of us to applaud Skip’s timeless efforts

It basically pays for the registration of the domain and the site hosting. Beyond that I might be able to buy lunch about once every 3 months.
Certainly not getting rich!
Lunis, I know you have the insight because you run a site also. Many people think I'm getting rich from this. Not so. I'm sure there are people making money from the Internet - just not me!

I wouldn't really mind if you did! -- but I know the economics of this kind of thing, though only at second hand.

It's about time that you did
It's about time that you did start making some money from it.
You have laboured long and hard, and the success of the site is evidenced by the number of members. The help, advice and assistance that has been given by all contributors is immeasurable, bearing in mind the number of problems that have been sorted which would otherwise have left the querists in a dumbfounded state not knowing where to turn for help.
None of this would have been possible without the input of your experience, expertise and time.
No reason why you should not get rich quick
