DNS 9.5 and Windows Vista, no go?
Dragon 9.5 doesn't seem to work on my brand-new Toshiba Satellite U205! what a crushing setback! The problem seems to be Windows Vista. I think I've loaded all the software and updates correctly, and DNS works fine for dictation but I can't get it to obey the simplest commands in other applications or for web surfing: can't use mouse grid to click on links, or move the mouse around on the screen by forward or back commands. Nothing happens.
My hands don't work (quadriplegia) so I'm totally dependent on these features. Don't know whether I should reload the software or take the computer back to Best Buy for a checkup. Is there something wrong with my equipment, or am I missing something obvious?

I have the same computer and am using it now from Bora Bora in French Polynesia. If you do not get this sorted out by next Monday, please send me an E-mail (you can use the Contact Us button on the eMicrophones web site if necessary) and I will try to call you and walk through this and confirm if the same commands work for me or do not?
Sorry I cannot help sooner. I seem to recall you wrote a couple of weeks ago but I was scrambling to get things in order for when I would be away.

Although I do have Vista, I do not have DNS 9.5 installed on it, so I cannot speak to any particular issues. However, I have been working on a project that integrates with some of the win32 functions and I can say that there are some differences in how the API behaves for some basic stuff (controlling volume, closing/minimizing/maximizing windows, etc.)
It also maybe because of the security level of the user you have installed it with.
Other things you might be able to try are to send the key presses for browser navigation directly to IE (which also may have changed to with IE7).
On another note, and I almost hate to bring it up.... Vista natively has speech rec now. The engine does incorporate shamelessly copied functionality like the mouse grid and other browser navigation features. I do think DNS is still a ton better though both in functionality and in accuracy.
Best of luck.
