Bluetooth pairing
Finally got my replacement VXi B150 headset, but any hopes I had of getting up and running again were quickly dashed.
The XCommunicator dongle and its software are installed, but when I try pairing I never get asked for the 0000 passcode and when I try to connect the headset is not found.
I eventually did get it working briefly after following the instructions at Marty's site:
http://www.emicrophones.com/docdetails.asp?documen...
however I had to time things to perfection before having success.
I am now trying to connect again but am back to square one, there are now 2 BTHS headsets showing, but I can't connect to either of them. I tried a combination of re-pairing, removing dongle, etc., but nothing will work. In case it makes any difference the dongle driver is 4.0.1.2800.
Thanks to anyone who can help
Graham

I'm not sure if this will apply, but it's worth telling I guess.
I have a cell phone that has Bluetooth and I use the AnyCom dongle to transfer files to/from my computer.
In the beginning, I found that it acted like you are saying. I then found out there was a sequence of powerups it wanted to see. If it didn't see the correct sequence, it would fail to connect.
The sequence was, Bluetooth dongle on (cell phone off). I gave it a couple of minutes, then bring up the PC software (Nokia Connection Manager) it uses to communicate. Finally I turn on the phone and it's bluetooth. It can take 2 or 3 minutes (literally) to connect and be seen even with the correct sequence.
Perhaps something like this might help?

The annoying thing is that, after quite a few teething troubles, the old (identical) headset was set up perfectly and would connect immediately almost every time.
In truth I am basically following the sequence you suggest, the software is already installed, the dongle is inserted and then I try to connect the headset. The problem is not down to waiting a bit longer as I keep getting an error/failed to connect message.
The XVox site is somewhat confusing as it mentions various Communicator driver and firmware upgrades, but I am not sure which if any might apply (be of use) to me, also because I only have the XVox dongle and not the headset.
Cheers

When you get a screen with the two BTHS headsets, try right clicking and deleting both. Reboot the computer and try pairing again. I believe part of your problem is the Xovox Bluetooth USB dongle software is proprietary as opposed to the dongle eMicrophones supply which is not only longer-range but has standard Windows USB Bluetooth software drivers.

I am not really sure how, if I click on the bluetooth icon in the taskbar and bring up a window showing the two headsets I am then given no opportunity of deleting (right click has no effect).
I am tempted to remove absolutely everything and do a clean install. I had huge problems with pairing almost daily on my old computer, but on the new one things had been a lot better until my old headset packed up. The software certainly seems temperamental to say the least as there is no margin for error whatsoever.

I'm sorry to hear that about the Xovox software supplied with the AnyCom dongle. The standard software that we supplied with our AnyCom dongles work perfectly with the VXI wireless Bluetooth headsets.
If you are in the United States, you can contact me through our website and I can send you a copy of the software. I would advise removing all the other software first before doing this as you intend.

Some of us need the pain to know we are still alive.

Perhaps I was not clear, I do not have the Anycom dongle but this one:

I was following Marty's installation instructions in order to have some idea as to the recommended procedure for this type of product, but obviously it is not identical.
In answer to Bruce's query, I "upgraded" to Bluetooth when my USB headset permanently gave up the ghost due to a break in the wire, beside the convenience of not being literally tied to the computer whilst I am dictating or in a Voip call, I had hoped to avoid a repeat of this and indeed things had been working well prior to my latest misadventure due to an inherent fault in the battery charger in the batch of headsets mine came from, however if you wish to tag me as a masochist rather than plain unlucky please feel free to do so.

After simply rebooting a couple of times, the headset now connects (at least for the time being), I seem to remember that there was also an icon in the taskbar for the headset itself, but so far this has not appeared.
Anyway, fingers crossed ...
