Difficulty logging into this site using Internet Explorer

I've noticed that not only have several of you been having problems logging into this site with Internet Explorer, but it has happened to me several times as well.

The usual symptom is you are in the "who's online" list, but you will still see the login and password prompts.

I've been trying several things to see what the problem is. It appears clearing all temporary internet files, exiting the browser and restarting it resolves the problem.

Why does it happen? I have no idea, I just know this fixes the problem when I encounter it.

I'd welcome constructive thoughts on this from users as well!

Funny thing is it doesn't

Funny thing is it doesn't appear to log me in and repeatedly clicking the button doesn't work, but when I read a message and come back to "recent posts", I am logged in!

I've just spent the last 2

I've just spent the last 2 hours reading about this problem. Seems it's common on this version of the software I use. The current thought is that it has to do with an orphaned cookie. Now if they made it chocolate chip it might be ok, but I don't think it is. Smiling

Apparently the fix is to upgrade to the latest software version. This is not something that I would/will enjoy as we may lose some functionality.

I have to really think about this as it could be a 2 or 3 day procedure to do this...

Funny thing is that Firefox and Opera seem fine... it seems the IE based 6 or 7 browsers are having the majority of problems with this.

Sorry, but I use

Sorry, but I use Firefox.

I've noticed the same

I've noticed the same thing--looping back to the login. I think that the cure is to log in as soon as you arrive, not perform any actions until your name is up there. Then you can roam around at will, comment to your heart's content.
