TTS Sound Output Problem
Hello, I am having a little problem. I have made commands that use Dragon's TTS, and it is outputting the sound into the laptop's speakers rather than the headset's speakers. I have checked the default settings for the laptop in Control Panel and they are set to the headset's speakers, and I have tried playing some music, which plays in the headset. I did the Setup Audio Wizard as well, and there is no change. The headset works, as the microphone still works and the music plays in it, but the TTS Playback does not. Do you know how to fix this problem, or what is wrong? Oh, and I am using Dragon Professional V. 9 and the headset runs through a USB soundcard. It just now started doing this, and it has previously been working as desired.

Well, I restarted the computer and it somehow fixed itself, but if you know what was wrong please tell in case it happens again.

This is basically called – Windoze
When you make changes to the Audio and Device Settings dialog, Windows adds these changes to the Windows registry.
Sometimes, these changes to the registry don't always go into effect immediately. However, make sure that the checkbox for “Use only default devices” is selected (checked). Also, always click on Apply before clicking on OK. Most of the time this forces Windoze to execute a reload of the registry. However, there are times when Windoze gets finicky and doesn't immediately activate your changes. Why? Go figure? Even Microsoft can't answer that question.
Nevertheless, there is a simpler way to reload the registry without having to reboot if this occurs in the future, which it shouldn't if all your settings are made and correct, which means that you have to make the appropriate setting changes in both the Audio and Voice tabs, as well is checking the checkbox as indicated above. Simply log off your current Windows user (Start | Log OFF) and log back on. This resets the registry and takes a lot less time than rebooting your system.
Regardless of how you set your settings up, remember that once you set them, if you want to change them, you have to make sure that you reset them accordingly and make sure that that checkbox referred to above is selected. Otherwise, Windoze will resort to your previous settings.
Just the way things work. Windoze 101:
