Quiet, Pricey Case Fans
Recently I decided my two 120mm fans were getting on my nerves, so I found this new quiet champion:
http://www.silentpcreview.com/article695-page4.htm...
The review gets a bit snippy about differentiating among the candidates, but so do wine connoisseurs, SLR enthusiasts, etc. Maybe because I was in the mood to pre-spend my so far merely hypothetical tax refund, I decided to give this fan a buzz.
Possibly because the silentPC crowd is clamoring for this device, its pricier than the average: about $20 a unit was the lowest price I could find, although you can pay as much as $25 if you look. You can order a number of different colors, but it appears you get the pinkish beige frame with milk chocolate blades as pictured in the review no matter what you order.
So how does it sound? Pricey, but pretty quiet -- quiet enough even with two running (one for my box and another for my watercooling radiator) that I discovered the noise is coming from my POC ABit northbridge fan -- it fails annually as if on schedule, which is just long enough for me to forget its coming
There are extra bits in the box for different connectors and to reduce the voltage/speed, and springy silicone thingies to mount it without resonance side-effects to your case.
