How To Delete Macros
Submitted by letitsnow on Sun, 02/11/2007 - 19:19.
I have just purchased ViaVoice Release 10.5. When experimenting with creating macros I named one "test". Now when I use the word test it replaces it with the information in the "test" macro. I have searched high and low for tools to delete macros in my version of ViaVoice and can not find how to delete this macro. Does not appear that my version has a way to delete macros, just create macros. Is there a way to delete the macro from the operating system? Do macros have a specific file extension?
Thanks for your help.

letitsnow, To delete
letitsnow,
To delete Dictation Macros: Click on the Speechbar and then click on Tools. Then click on "Work with Dictation Macros". Highlight the macro you want to delete. On the menu bar click Edit. Click Delete.
To delete Navigation Macros: Click on the Speechbar and then click on Tools. Then click on "Work with Navigation Macros". Highlight the macro you want to delete. On the menu bar click Edit. Click Delete.

My only options are: Analyze
My only options are: Analyze My Voice, Analyze My Documents, Analyze My Vocabulary and Help me with recognition problems. I have no Word w/ Diction Macros option.
Thanks for you help.

I am very puzzled. If you have not access to Work With Navigation Macros and Work With Dictation Macros, how did you manage to make a macro called "test"?
I have never come across there being no Work With Navigation Macros and Work With Dictation Macros in the Tools menu.
I believe there may be something wrong with your installation.
My suggestion is that you would backup your speech files. Click on the Speechbar and then click on User Options, then click on ViaVoice Options, click-on the Backup User tab, give your speech files and name and date, and back it up to some other part of your hard drive.
Obviously you will not have made dictation or navigation macros, so there is none to back up.
Put your ViaVoice disk in and reinstall. It should preserve your speech files and settings. After re-installing, see if the Work With Navigation Macros and Work With Dictation Macros now appears in the Tools menu.
If this does not work, then you should do a complete uninstallation using Control Panel. After restarting, on the ViaVoice set up disk, using Windows Explorer, you will find Support, and in there you will see ViaClean. Run that and this will clean out all Registry entries as well as the VV program files. Restart your computer, and proceed with installation. See if this works. If it does not, then the installation disk is corrupt and you should arrange for a replacement.

The problem has not been resolved, yet. It is one of those cases, I have not had time to run through the steps to possiblly correct the problem, just continue to limp along with the problem hanging over me.
Hope to get around to working w/ it over the next few days. Thanks for your help.
The only point I could find
The only point I could find to work with macros was within Word or SpeakPad there is a "diction" tab and one of the options is "create diction macro". That is the only point I can find to access macros.
Using My Computer or Windows
Using My Computer or Windows Explorer, go to C: \ Program Files\ViaVoice\Help\ugen_uk.pdf.
This is the ViaVoice Instruction Book.
If you go to page 30, you'll see what the VoiceCentre should look like. (I tried to paste an image of it in this posting, but I have forgotten how to do it. There was an instruction in a previous posting but I cannot locate it.)
Re-installation is your only answer.
If you follow the instructions previously given , it should not take more than 15 minutes.
