DNS9 Pref with Speechmike Pro USB 6274 -- problem with programmable keys

Using DNS 9 with a USB Speechmike:

I have lost functionality of some of the 6 programmable buttons. Any buttonto which I assign a "hotkey" seems not to work any more.

For example, my EOL button will no longer return a BACKSPACE even though [Backspace] is assigned to that key in the Speechmike Control Program.

Some key sequences can be done. For example, I assigned this to the fastforward button: ["!scroll up"]. That does give me a scroll up. But I can't seem to get things like ENTER, ESC, and DEL assigned to any of the buttons. They look like [Esc] in the speechmike control program but they don't work

Running on an IBM T40 WinXP SP2

Thanks in advance. By the way, because it's hard to embed an angle bracket in these windows, I used a regular bracket instead. I know they should be angle brackets.

Stan, First of all,

Stan,

First of all, delete all the commands that you have in the control programme.

If I remember correctly, you have to assign the keys in DNS options for the on/off or toggle buttons for the microphone.

Then press all the assigned keys for each of the programmable buttons.

You should then assign the keys for the other functions you want for each button. The Speechmike programme will automatically put in the angle brackets.

If these do not work, then you may have to re-install your Speechmike programme.

Quentin, Thanks. That's the

Quentin,

Thanks. That's the strange part of this: The keys I have programmed to make Dragon do things are working fine. For example, I set Dragon to toggle the mike with the Ctrl+Shift+F10 combination. I then set the Speechmike control program to have one of the buttons send that key sequence.

That part works fine. The problem is assigning a simple one key command to a button on the Speechmike--the DEL or the ESC key. Althought it looks like it's set up right in the Speechmike Control program window, the key stroke isn't actually sent when I press the button.

It used to work right. I wonder if something is conflicting with the Speechmike program. I will try reinstalling it again.
