Do NOT place your email address on here!

I've seen a couple of people putting their email address into messages here so I feel compelled to let all of you know this.
DO NOT DO THAT ON HERE!
There's a big difference between a hidden away mailing list and the open internet.
According to the system logs, yesterday every page and every message on this site was scanned by several search engines. You do not want your email address findable in any search engine nor 'hanging out' on the internet for all to see (spammers and those dubious others we hear about).
There is a contact method built in so no one knows your email address unless you reply to what they send you via your contact form. It is up to you to allow that contact and it would be by email at your registered address on here.
To turn on your contact form, go to 'my account' on the right hand menu. Then click on the 'edit' tab at the top. You will see an entry on that page for 'Contact settings'. If the box is checked to the left of 'Personal contact form' then it is enabled. Make sure you submit any changes you might make.
While you're at this page, you should record it's address. Click the 'contact' tab at the top and record the address shown in your browser's address bar.
It will look similar to this (xxx=your user number): http://www.speechcomputing.com/user/xxx/contact
To include this in a message, replace the 'xxx' with your user number then include this html anchor code in your message.
< a href="user/xxx/contact">to contact me click here< /a>
Remember to remove the space after both of the < characters. I put the spaces in so the code would show for you. You can change the 'to contact me click here' to whatever you want it to say.
A way to privately contact a message author is to click their name where it says 'submitted by' under the message title. It will take you to their user record. Then click on the 'contact' tab. It will either show you a form to fill out or say they are not accepting emails.
