Toshiba screen of death

Turns out the entire Toshisiba A215 line has the "blank screen" defect I was describing in my recent post. (My U205 still wheezes along, loud fan, without a hitch. But it's making me blind!)

same Toshiba problem recurring; defective model?

I also have never had this problem with my small-screen Toshiba Satellite U205, Marty, even though it runs exactly the same software and same design features as the large-screen Satellite A215 version

Toshiba/Vista/DNS compatibility?

I've bought a second Toshiba Satellite with exactly the same system components as my first one: 2 GHz processor 2 GB RAM 150 GB hard drive.

Dragon 9.5 Pro, quadriplegic users?

Some time ago, I read testimonials from a bunch of quad (disabled) users of VR/DNS. I thought it was on the emicrophones site, but only encountered one such customer there.

Why does MS Word 2007 freeze up when I start DNS?

Web surfing problems with new Toshiba

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite U 200 with much more RAM and hard drive memory than the IBM T40I've been using for the last four years, and I upgraded to Dragon 9.0. Speech recognition is comparable to, not better than, my T40 -- but to my horror I discover that none of my voice commands for net surfing have any effect.

how to disable CPU power conservation?

Chuck Ruhnquist advises me that there is a power setting on some laptops which sometimes cuts the CPU speed in half as a power conservation measure whether you're running on AC or battery power. (I almost never run on battery, always plugged in.)

DNS8 and my sub-functional ThinkPad

In a previous post I requested input on ongoing problems I'm having with DNS8 Pro on a T40 ThinkPad (1.4 GHz, 768 MB of RAM, Windows XP). Martin suggested I check the system properties panel to see what speed my computer was really functioning at, and (surprise!) last night it read only 598 MHz. But I don't think that explains my problems:
