Why? Why not?

It just doesn't work. I've been trying all day to get my brain to work with the wifi and bluetooth dongle, but it just won't work.

One of my all time dreams has been to have a nice laptop to use wireless.

frustration...

I have been attempting to use Unimacro and Vocola this morning. I have really met with a lot of frustration in doing so.

Could Bluetooth be the answer?

I've been wondering why there wasn't something like this a long time ago.

For the longest time I've wanted to have ONE headset to use with the land line phone, my cell phone and speech recognition. I also thought it would be ideal if it was wireless. I think I've found the answer, at least at first look! Now to figure out how to budget to be able to buy it!

Save The Internet

You may be wondering why I've categorized this as Technology News.

It's simple actually. The Internet runs on technology. Anything affecting that technology is news.

Here in the States, our politicians have seen the need, due to prodding by big telecom companies, to try to restrict our access to the internet.

What a long strange trip it's been.

It's been an interesting week for me. I'm sure there are others that are cursing this week with the impending tax deadline and then Easter around the corner. I'm glad my tax responsibilities are already completed. One less thing to think about at this time of year for me. As to Easter, I think we each will deal with that according to our individual beliefs.

Incoming News feeds

I'm not sure if you are aware of this site feature.

There are several newsfeeds that are electronics/gadget/Speech Recognition oriented on this page. They are automatically brought in several times a day to keep us up to date on industry news.

They are not included in the RSS feed at this time and must be read here at the site.

They are under "News/news feeds - inbound" (or the link above) in the menu for your reading pleasure.

Topics, categories and terms

The content on the Speech Computing website is usually organized using categories through a system called "taxonomy". In this relation an article is any content you provide such as Blog Entry, Story or Forum entry.

A taxonomy has different "terms" that are used as categories for articles. When you're adding an article, you might find a drop-down list of topics.

By selecting one, you choose where on the site to categorize your article. If this seems hard to relate to, you can think of topics as being like folders on your hard drive -- they help to organize content, so that you can find similar things in the same place.
